The Stone Bridge, an ideal spot for hiking and photography enthusiasts

Leave Ibiza’s busiest places behind and discover Cala d’Albarca on the island’s wild northwestern coast. This 4-hour guided hike takes you through the protected landscapes of Es Amunts to a spectacular natural stone bridge suspended above the sea.

From the starting point, follow your guide along a direct trail through pine woodland and Mediterranean vegetation. The outbound walk takes approximately one hour and gradually descends toward a coastline dominated by high limestone cliffs. As you continue, panoramic views open across the bay and the blue expanse of the sea.

At the end of the trail, the Stone Bridge comes into view: a large natural arch carved into the cliff. Rather than being built by humans, this formation is the result of a slow process of erosion. Sea water, rain, and wind exploited fractures in the limestone, while successive collapses sculpted the opening and left a stronger section of rock standing above it.

Approach the arch with your guide and, if you wish, walk across its rocky surface. There are no railings or artificial safety installations at the site, so move carefully and always follow your guide’s instructions. Those who prefer not to step onto the bridge can observe it from another viewpoint and enjoy the scenery from there.

Take time to photograph this impressive formation, the surrounding cliffs, and the bay. Your guide can also take photos of you, giving you lasting memories of the adventure.

Discover the history of this isolated coastline. The bay was once used as a landing point by pirates who attacked the rural communities of northwestern Ibiza. Your guide will share these stories while explaining the landscape of Es Amunts and the geological formation of the natural arch.

Spend approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes exploring the area around the bridge and descending toward the cove. If sea conditions permit, enjoy a refreshing swim before beginning the return journey. Participants must know how to swim, and swimming is discouraged whenever the sea is considered dangerous.
The return climb takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and requires more effort than the descent. The pace is adapted to the group so that the hike is always completed before nightfall.

Rated 3 out of 5 for difficulty, this hike requires good physical fitness and sturdy sneakers. Participants must be at least 16 years old. The activity is not suitable for pregnant women, people with reduced mobility or vertigo, anyone with heart, respiratory, or joint conditions, or those recovering from a recent injury.
