Welcome to the Gate of Heaven
This enclave became famous among the hippies of the 1960s and 70s who came to marvel at its sunsets. However, the site is known in another way by the Ibizencos.
The Gate of Heaven is located in a place of outstanding natural beauty: high limestone cliffs beneath which stretches the endless blue of the sea, all surrounded by the pine trees that give the Pityusic Islands their name.
There are several theories about the origin of its name. One of my favorites is that the sunsets are so beautiful here that it feels as though “the gates of heaven” are opening.
Another equally beautiful possibility is that on calm days, you can see the sea currents flowing in the distance, “tracing paths toward the sky.”

The Gate to Heaven — Ibiza
The hippies of the ’60s found this place before almost anyone else. Limestone cliffs, pine trees, endless sea—and sunsets so breathtaking they gave the spot its name.
The gates of heaven opening wide. Or on calm days, ocean currents drawing paths across the water, straight toward the horizon.
The locals of Ibiza have known this place for far longer. And they never needed to explain why.
